"Idol Night" Highs and Lows

Around 17 students joined us at our house Tuesday night for another season of American Idol. It was good to have the students there, but as I watched the opening episode, I began to wonder if we were watching a show that may just be "jumping the shark." From a concentration on finding talent, it seems that AI has morphed into a "beat the idiots" show, where thousands of people with talent may have been passed over so that the producers could show us lots of unbalanced, self-deceived people who think they have talent getting skewered by everyone but Paula (and frankly, Paula adds nothing to the show except the question of whether she is on something).

We seemed to get way too many back stories and interviews with people who should have been good for a few seconds of humor. Yes, I know that only a few out of 10,000 were chosen, but we didn't even see all that made it in 2 hours of TV.

Be careful, AI, you can wear out your popularity. If you think not, I have 6 words for you--
"Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?"
